Safety Regulations
Children are well known for not handling their toys with the greatest care and they need to be durable to be able to withstand a young child’s curiosity. It is because these toys can pose a potential risk to a child if they are not made to withstand some hard wear and tear that safety regulations were introduced and enforced with manufacturers. Without safety regulations their can be risks of toys entering the marketplace that can be made of unsuitable materials, can break into smaller parts that could become a choking hazard and other such risks.
Toys must pass certain safety standards and many countries have now introduced a safety standard seal that lets a parent be confident when purchasing that the toy is safe for a young child. The problem is that children have not yet learnt to distinguish between what is safe and what is not so it is up to the parents and the manufacturers to ensure that the toys are safe for them. Thankfully most well known retail chains will not sell a baby toy that is not approved and tested so when you are buying be sure to buy from a good store and watch for labeling that indicates the minimum age the child should be to play with the toy and that it has a recognized safety stamp.
